In bodybuilding scenarios, it’s typically only injected in a competitive environment to promote a localized swelling, which may provide the bodybuilder with an edge during the judging process.
In most cases, this “swelling” or inflammation of the muscle or muscle group lasts up to four days.
It’s not exactly known how the muscle will eventually respond to such strain, but as it’s not natural, the potential for lingering damage, not only to muscles, but to nerves found within the muscle fibers, is a strong potential.
This unnatural forcing of a muscle to literally inflate itself like a balloon is not encouraged nor recommended for most users.
Even professional and competitive bodybuilders don’t tend to use it because of the risk of being discovered by testing methods.
The greatest danger however, is the potential damage to muscle cells, fibers, and nerves.
