Primotest (often spelled Primoteston or more simply Primotest) is a prescription-strength form of an anabolic androgenic steroid.
It is manufactured by the German pharmaceutical Schering.
It comes in two forms: oral and injection. The injection form is known as Primotest Depot.
How does it work? Is it effective, and what can a bodybuilder or athlete expect in regard to results? Are side effects associated with its use?

Primo Test steroid is a brand name drug, also known by its generic name methyltestosterone.
In treatment scenarios, it is often recommended for males with low T levels.
Known as an androgen, it is responsible for a number of functions in the male body that go beyond libido.
Testosterone (and by its very nature, Primotest) is capable of:
Increasing development of lean muscle tissue and mass.
Enhancing production of red blood cells – red blood cells are responsible for transportation of nutrients and oxygen to all cells in the body required for life. Oxygen delivery can increase stamina and endurance as well as healthy growth scenarios for muscle.
Improve retention of nitrogen in muscles – careful balances of oxygen and nitrogen in muscle fibers promote an environment for optimal muscle growth and health.
Dosage recommendations for Primotest depend on whether the oral or injection form of the drug is taken.
In medical scenarios, the injected form (Primotest Depot) is actually testosterone with the enanthate ester attached. It generally comes in a 1mL vial containing 250 mg testosterone enanthate.
The enanthate ester is a relatively long-acting ester, so injections don’t need to be taken frequently. In treatments, initial doses of one pre-filled syringe is typically given every two to three weeks for deficiencies.
Maintenance dosages are recommended at one (1) pre-filled syringe every three to four weeks, although some individuals find every six weeks adequate for increasing serum testosterone levels.
Some brands of Primotest are actually a mix of Primobolan and Test Enanthate.
Bodybuilders often take higher than recommended dosages.
Primotest is available through a number of online steroid shops and underground labs with often excessively high milligram strengths, some ranging 600 mg per milliliter (10 mL product).
On average, injections of 100 mg to 200 mg on a weekly or every 10-day regimen is effective in treatment of low testosterone levels.
Beginning, intermediate, and advanced users taking the drug for athletic performance enhancement typically use more.
Beginners and intermediate: 500 mg weekly maximum.
Advanced: some bodybuilders take as much as 1000 mg a week (not recommended).
Cycles typically last approximately 12 to 16 weeks, with no less than eight weeks of use for noticeable results. Bodybuilders will rarely notice any benefits in less than four weeks.
Primotest, as testosterone, is highly anabolic in nature, and related side effects should be watched for, especially as dosages increase.
It is relatively effective for most, and bodybuilders and athletes can use it all by itself in a cycle.
Primo testosterone and other forms of testosterone, which by their very nature are all synthetic anabolic androgenic steroids are, do have the capability of triggering a number of estrogenic and aromatization-triggered (estrogenic) side effects.
Not every user experiences the same type or severity of side effects, but many are common. For bodybuilders, this means potential:
Not everyone experiences the same Test Primo cycle results, benefits or side effects with use. Genetics, diet, and metabolism and lifestyle can influence potential for both.
Bodybuilders often incorporate some form of aromatase inhibitor into their Primotest cycle use to reduce the potential for aromatization or conversion of testosterone and estrogen, with varying degrees of success.
In medical scenarios, aromatase inhibitors are typically used in breast cancer treatments.
Commonly used Aromatase inhibitors include Arimidex (anastrozole) or Femara (letrozole) to inhibit and sometimes even lower levels of estrogen.
Bodybuilders should be aware that aromatase inhibitors also have the potential for side effects, including negative influence on cholesterol levels.
One of the most common side effects (for men and women) associated with aromatase inhibitors can include muscle and joint pain.
Anabolic androgenic steroids like Primotest should always be used with discretion by bodybuilders and athletes, especially since the steroid is used for nonmedical purposes.
Any hormone introduced into the body when levels are already adequate can adversely disrupt and negatively influence any number of hormonal and metabolic processes in the body.
Primotest/methyltestosterone can interact negatively with a number of prescription as well as nonprescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products.
Always start at the lowest possible dosage to determine how the body reacts before increasing.
