Although injecting steroids is generally thought to be healthier than oral consumption, there are still some steroid shot side effects to be aware of.
Oral steroid pass through your liver unaltered, which puts a lot of strain on it and makes them very hepatotoxic.
But with steroid injections, the most common side effects relate to the injection itself, like pain and swelling around the injection site.
We’re going to go over these side effects and more below so you know exactly what you’re getting into if you want to start injecting anabolic steroids.
We also offer some natural alternatives that are legal, safe, and are consumed in capsule form. Buy legal steroids online here.

Possibly the most dangerous thing that can happen when using steroid injections for bodybuilding is pulmonary embolism, which refers to the blockage of an artery in your lungs.
This can lead to a heart attack, which can be deadly.
Luckily, avoiding this effect is simple:
Always inject steroids into your muscles.
Pulmonary embolisms can occur when you inject steroids into your veins, which is a mistake that some people make.
And it can happen anywhere, be it when conducting knee, hip, or shoulder steroid injections.
But think about it:
You’re taking steroids to affect your muscles, so that’s where you should be injecting them.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, what are the other steroid shot side effects?
Long-term complications depend on how long the injections have been going on as well as how frequently they have been administered.
Individuals who develop complications from steroid shot side effects typically see easy bruising, weight gain, acne, high blood pressure, cataract formation, and osteoporosis.
Too many shots in a year can result in unfavorable steroid shot side effects, such as hives, swelling, growth suppression, diabetes, osteoporosis, and high blood pressure.
This is probably the most common side effect of injecting steroids.
Like any kind of injection, pain around the injection site can occur.
Of course, this is typically a temporary side effect that will go away fairly quickly, but if it continues longer than a few days, it might be infected.
Signs of infection include swelling and pain around the injection site. In this case, you should go to the doctor to receive medication.
Or, if it’s a simple case of inflammation as opposed to infection, an anti-inflammatory cream could do the trick.
At some point in your life, you’ve probably heard that diseases like human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can be passed through needles.
And it’s true:
Sharing needles or using dirty needles can lead to the contraction of diseases like HIV.
This is why if you’re going to be injecting steroids, you need to take cleanliness very, very seriously.
A dirty or used needle is something that can lead to permanent bodily damages with just one use.
Ultimately, using natural herbal alternatives is the easiest way to avoid this possibility, and all side effects of steroid injections in general, but we’ll get to that later.
After injecting Trenbolone Acetate, many users report experiencing a cough, which is now commonly referred to as “tren cough.”
It is believed that Trenbolone can be irritating to the lungs, especially due to the presence of benzyls.
We know what you’re thinking:
A cough seems like a pretty minor side effect compared to the others that we’ve talked about.
But it’s not the cough that’s dangerous, it’s what it signifies: irritation to your lungs.
Over time, this could cause serious damage and breathing problems, and the only way to avoid this is to lower your Tren dosage or avoid using it altogether.
Both injectable and oral steroids can lead to the development of Androgenic side effects.
These effects result from androgens binding to androgen receptors concentrated in the scalp, skin and prostate.
Some of the androgenic side effects have already been touched on, but they can include increased oily skin and acne because of stimulation of the sebaceous glands, male pattern baldness and hair loss, increased bodily and facial hair growth, and enlargement of the prostate.
People suffering from this side effect often use a topical shampoo called Nizoral 2%, which is a topical anti-androgen that is used to treat androgen-related acne and male pattern baldness.
The active ingredient in Nizoral is Ketoconazole, which is used to block androgen when applied topically on acne breakouts. It also applied to the scalp for androgen-related male pattern baldness.
When Ketoconazole is applied topically, it acts as an antagonist to the androgen receptors and competes with other androgens like DHT and Testosterone for androgen receptors just beneath the skin and scalp. When anabolic steroid use is discontinued, the buildup of sebum is said to cease and the acne that resulted from the use typically clears up.
Male Pattern Baldness (MPB)
Another potential side effect of using anabolic steroids is a condition called male pattern baldness.
Same as with the side effect of acne, anabolic steroids are attracted to androgen receptors in the scalp of individuals that happen to have the genetic trait needed to trigger the condition. Male pattern baldness can also occur in women.
This particular genetic sequence is dominantly understood to be an inherited trait. It is thought that in order for the user to suffer this side effect from anabolic steroid use, they must have the genetic trait. With this, users are not known lose their hair no matter what their dosage.
Sufferers of androgen-related MPB often use either Nizoral 2%, which is a topically applied androgen blocker (discussed above), or take a 5-alpha reductase (5AR) inhibitor which blocks the 5AR enzyme from converting Testosterone into a far stronger androgen called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
The 5AR enzyme is found in a number of different tissues throughout the body, including the skin, scalp and prostate.
Cases where Testosterone converts to DHT tend to be the most severe cases of this androgenic side effects. Ancillary medications like Dutasteride or Proscar (both 5AR inhibitors) are routinely taken to block the 5-alpha reductase enzyme and help eliminate the risk of excess DHT.
However, this will not totally eliminate all potential androgenic side effects because Testosterone has an androgenic strength rated at 100, and therefore will still cause certain androgenic side effects throughout the tissues of the body independent of dyhydrotestosterone.
5AR inhibitors like Dutasteride, Finasteride and Proscar do not work with anabolic steroids that do not interact with the 5AR enzyme. This is because those compounds don’t convert to DHT.
5AR Inhibiters are not taken with steroids that have been derived from DHT like Anadrol, Anavar, Primobolan, and Winstrol, or with steroids like Deca-Durabolin and Trenbolone, which are 19-nor Progestin compounds.
When aromatizable androgens convert into Estrogen through the aromatase enzyme, it can cause the body’s estrogen levels to become out of control.
Intracellular and extracellular water retention is perhaps the most common side effect. But excess estrogen can also lead to the development of gynecomastia.
This is an unsightly condition characterized by enlarged male breast tissue. Because it can have the look of female breasts, bodybuilders often refer to this condition as “man boobs.”
Water retention is also a largely cosmetic side effect that can lend a puffy, bloated look to the bodybuilder. This can be the opposite look of the polished, ripped physique a lot of men are after when they cycle steroids.
With water retention, intracellular water is stored, for example, within muscle cells to fill out or volumize the muscles. Extracellular water can be found in the circulatory system, which can cause a rise in blood pressure.
It is also found in subcutaneous areas beneath the skin, which can cause cosmetic problems for users who don’t want their face or physique appearing soft, puffy or bloated.
People with a bloated looking face as a result of this side effect are often referred to as having “moon face.”
The water retention that occurs due to an increase in Estrogen results from the hormone’s effect on another hormone that controls the flow of water into and out of the kidneys, the hypothalamic arginine vasopressin (AVP).
This affects both males and females. Increased AVP levels in the body go hand-in-hand with an increase in Estrogen levels.
Non-aromatizable anabolic steroids, like Anavar, Trenbolone, Winstrol, and more (except for Anadrol) are not associated with water retention.
Physique builders attempt to control water retention and the type of puffiness and bloating it causes by taking an aromatase inhibitor.
The idea is to lower Estrogen levels in blood plasma by taking compounds designed to hinder the aromatase enzyme. Users may also try taking low doses of non-aromatizable compounds like Masteron with other anabolic steroids that are vulnerable to aromatization.
Other performance users try to control water retention by following a healthy diet containing only low to moderate levels of sodium and no carbohydrates or simple sugars. Sodium is believed to be one of the main electrolytes that causes extracellular water retention.
Water retention and increased bloating can raise the risk of cardiovascular problems because blood pressure will be on the rise as more fluids flow into the cardiovascular system. Therefore, carefully reducing water retention is a key imperative for bodybuilders.
Tendons are the tissues in your body that attach muscles to your bones.
One of the dangers of injecting steroids is tendon rupture.
The four most common areas for this are:
Avoid injecting into these areas.
Tendon ruptures can be very painful and can even cause permanent damage and disability if left without proper treatment.
If you’re going to inject steroids, we suggest the buttocks.
The biggest danger here is hitting the sciatic nerve, which although dangerous, can be avoided by injecting into the top two quadrants of your buttocks.
In addition, always ensure that your injection is at least two inches away from the center vertical line created by your spine.
But we suggest avoiding injection altogether.
By using natural pill supplements.
